Would you like to be a precinct election official?

When there is an election in Ringgold County, we need people to staff the polling places. We are always looking for people who would like to have their names on a list as being interested in serving as an election worker. Qualifications to serve are:

• Be registered to vote in Ringgold County
• Not be an opposed candidate or closely related to any opposed candidate on the ballot
• Have energy and stamina for a long day
• Have good reading and listening skills
• Enjoy people and service to others
• Willing to attend trainings
• Willing to accept a small payment for a BIG service

Duties of a precinct election worker include:

• Attend a training before each election
• Operate the electronic poll book for voter check-in process
• Check that voters are qualified to vote
• Instruct voters how to properly use the voting equipment
• Close the polling place
• Report the vote results after the polls close
• Complete paperwork and clean up polling area
