The Sheriff's Office is now accepting applications for the position of a full-time Dispatcher/Jailer consisting of day and night shift hours, holidays and weekends. Starting pay for this position is $17.30 an hour non-certified applicant. With increases up to $20.30 after successful completion of training and orientation/probation period. Includes a benefit package of paid medical, dental and vision insurance, paid holidays, life insurance and retirement plan (IPERS). Uniform will be provided.

All applicants must:

  1. Be at least 18 years of age.
  2. Have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  3. Be able to read and write the English language.
  4. Pass a background check.
  5. Pass a pre-employment physical.
  6. Pass a psychological screening.
  7. Must have working knowledge of the Windows Operating System.
  8. Pass drug screen.

Duties will include, but not limited to, receiving information requiring law enforcement, fire and/or medical response and transferring the information via radio and/or phone to proper emergency or non-emergency services.  A complete job description can be found here
